TradReviews, Episode 18: A Trio of Joans of Arc

In this episode host Stephen Heiner examines, critiques, and offers recommendations for and against three portrayals of the Maid of Orleans on film:

  • The 1948 Victor Fleming film starring Ingrid Bergman
  • The 1962 Robert Bresson film starring Florence Chassez
  • The 1928 Carl Theodor Dreyer film starring Renee Maria Falconetti

For those unfamiliar with the details of the story of St. Joan, Stephen begins the episode by reading the declaration written by St. Pius X on the day of Joan’s beatification in 1909.
