Such a Waste!

Dr. Mitchell Kalpakgian in his article, The Destruction of Childhood from Truth and Charity Forum, provides an overview of the ways that children are under attack and the techniques used to turn a child into merely something to be indoctrinated and manipulated with facility according to Anthony Esolen’s book, Ten Ways to Destroy the Imagination of Your Child. One wonders how these children, once grown up, are to be appealed to at least on the natural level of beauty and grandeur, to bring them to the truth. This destruction of their imagination must surely make conversion to the Catholic Faith all but impossible if it wasn’t for the grace of God.

However, this divine grace must be drawn down from Heaven by someone and that brings us to Finer Femininity’s post, A Contemplative? Such a Waste! Of course every Catholic is able to contribute to the bringing down of graces, but there is always a need for those who dedicate their lives specifically to prayer and immolation. It is worth consideration that when the Son of God, eagerly looked forward to and prophesied about for centuries, was at last “made flesh,” He spent only three years doing His work in the public eye; less than 10% of His life was He seen to be actively doing something. Simply by the better part of His life being hidden and private does Christ teach us a lesson on the importance of the contemplative life, that “better part” which Mary hath chosen.

Lastly, in honor of today's double of the second class, the Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, enjoy this post on Catholic Harbor of Faith and Morals which includes both the Novena in Honor of the Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Little Chaplet of the Twelve Privileges. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!
