This November is sure to be one for the world to remember, especially for the United States with its highly anticipated election reaching its zenith. We can only put our hopes for the future in God’s hands. What ought to be even more so before our eyes at this time is not merely what the future will be for us in this life, but in eternity. If we should have the misfortune to suffer as the Poor Souls in Purgatory, whom we honor this month, we would certainly be glad to have someone here on earth to pray for us. So let us be intercessors for the Poor Souls this month by saying some extra prayers for some of those loved ones and other faithful who have died. In union with all the saints, whose feast we first celebrate this month, let us offer our daily mortifications and crosses for the relief of the Holy Souls in Purgatory!
We would prefer, of course, to miss Purgatory altogether, as the saints did, and enjoy the bliss in heaven immediately after death. We may begin to do so by absorbing our senses in things that lead us closer to God, instead of indulging them on things the world seeks. In the series this month, The Beautiful Things, Bishop Daniel Dolan will discuss with Stephen Heiner things which the church uses to attract and uplift our senses to holy things, such as the use of incense, the sound of bells, and holy images. Watch for these 4 new episodes throughout the month, which will cover some of the more attractive external aspects of the Church and the origins of certain artworks which enrapture us with a sense of holiness.
All of the most recent episodes of True Restoration are exclusively accessible to our valued members.
