While the idea of the “two cities” has been discussed since St. Augustine first wrote about them, Professor Amerio proposes a third city, spawned by the Revolution and its descendants: a city of indifference which espouses what he calls Secondary Christianity. Also discussed is the idea of civilization as a side effect, not an end, of Christianity.
