In this episode of The Councils Father and Stephen cover the Fifth Lateran Council, which ended in 1517, a few months before Luther’s 95 Theses were posted in Germany.

The Council was called primarily to deal with:

  • Rooting out of schism
  • Reform of the Church
  • Crusade against the Turks

It also dealt with the:

  • Pragmatic Sanction
  • Pseudo-Council of Pisa
  • The Monti de Pieta
