St. John Vianney, also known as the Curé of Ars, was a priest in France who became internationally notable (even without modern communications) for his priestly and pastoral work in his parish because of the radical spiritual transformation of the community and its surroundings. On the fourth of August 1859, St. John Marie Vianney died at age 73. The bishop presided over his funeral with 300 priests and more than 6,000 people in attendance. May God send us more like him!
