Father Anthony Cekada

Father Anthony Cekada

We welcome back Father Anthony Cekada on this episode.

These days, we live in a culture of instant opinion. Everyone is encouraged to hold an opinion on everything, regardless of whether there is any objective evidence to support the belief or not.

As we live in this culture, in regards to theology, we must be very careful in how we research and in what we write. It is important to acknowledge how little we know compared to the vast body of theological knowledge that actually exists.

Secondly, Father Cekada talks about the capital sin of pride. Pride is the inordinate opinion one has of his own excellence and brings about a conflict between perception and reality. Pride is a capital sin inasmuch as it is the source of other sins because so many other evils flow from it.

That being said, God has given us a solution. Humility is the counter-attack to pride. Applying humility to ourselves takes effort, as it is the weapon required to overcome the capital sin of pride, though, it is the best defense we have against such a cardinal sin and must be practiced.
